A nurse cover letter has one job: connect your license, specialty, and patient-care numbers to the specific unit that's hiring. Nurse managers read dozens of these; the ones that get callbacks name the unit, the care setting, and one concrete outcome in the first two sentences.

- Mirror the posting's clinical priorities: if it mentions ratios, preceptorship, or a specific patient population, address that exact point with a number from your own experience.
- Name the EHR you chart in. Epic-to-Epic transitions are a real staffing consideration and managers notice.
- Skip the generic passion paragraph. "I've always wanted to help people" appears in every nurse letter; "I reduced unit falls from 14 to 9 per quarter" appears only in yours.
- Keep it under 300 words. Nurse managers screen applications between rounds, so four short paragraphs beat a full page.
